About Me
My love of driving began at a very young age. I used to enjoy watching my Dad who always took a pride in his driving skills, he passed on a lot of knowledge with regards to smooth braking and seamless gear changes. As soon as I became 16 I took to the road with a moped and started to gain experience and road knowledge, learning to control the bike well. I took an RAC course and later became a trainee in road safety. At the age of 17 I decided to take driving lessons and found an excellent Driving Instructor who was very patient and made every lesson enjoyable. I passed my test on the first attempt. Within the same week I took my motorbike test which I also passed and Dad bought me a lovely Honda 200cc.
I have continued to work on my driving skills regarding awareness, smooth gear changes and braking. I have been driving for 26 years and have a very high standard of driving but the learning skills are continuous.
I originate from Ipswich and worked for a shipping company for 18 years before they were bought out by a Canadian Company and eventually became disbanded. I then "retired" for 5 years but then decided to take up a new career as a Driving Instructor. For me, driving is a means of freedom and independance and, now that I teach, I enjoy being able to pass on my knowledge to enable others to achieve the same freedom and hope they continue to learn and expand their knowledge throughout their driving career too.
I especially enjoy teaching nervous drivers of all ages whom I encourage and I feel great pride and gain a lot of satisfaction when they pass their test.
Driving is my passion and I feel very lucky to have a job that I really enjoy. I like to think that my job is a tribute to my Dad who was a wonderful man, a cabinet maker by trade and a very good driver. He has sadly now passed away, but his skills are constantly my benchmark.
Finally I would like to thank, my friends, family and trainers for all their support and encouragement to enable my career to be possible and as successful as it is today. Thank you.
